Easter Joy and Suffering
As we enter Holy Week and the Passion of Christ our Savior, I remember an article that refelected on the power of several key people during the judging, sentencing and Crucification of Jesus. Jesus is pretty widely recognized as a historial and actualy person, even if you're not Christian, and some lessons apply to any religion/spirituality, outside the context of any specific religion.
POWER - we all have some over others, whether we asked for it or not. Three people could have changed the course for Jesus, showed fairness, compassion, justice.... but they were too weak to stand up for what was right. Caiaphas - more power and control most of us might ever have, but it wasn't enough, he still wanted more, and that twisted his values and focus of life! Pilot, knew ever more deep down inside, Jesus didn't deserve what was happeing, and that it was part of the hidden agenda and jealousy of others, YET he couldn't stand up to stop it! Herod, so focused on just enjoying himself at the expense of other and those he could have made a difference in their lives, he was a babbling fool that couldn't make even the simplest decision, much less see the signficance of Jesus as the Son of God, and the weight of the decision he had in his hands.
Fortunately, God gives most of us much smaller decisions to weigh and conquer each day, but He also gives us each unique gifts and Power! What will YOU do with it!!!
Have a Blessed Easter!
